Mental Health Week begins Sunday, October 8!

Welcome back!

You may recall I spoke in my last blog about help-seeking behaviour and the barriers that may impede someone taking a step towards change and improvement.  One such barrier was the stigma associated with mental health.

October is an important month for mental health, as World Mental Health Day is on October 10.  Moreover, Mental Health Week begins on Sunday, October 8 and runs through to Saturday, October 14.  The week aims to break down this stigma by educating individuals about mental health and engaging the public through numerous events held across Victoria.  These events include an official launch, art exhibitions, and seminars to name a few.  Please look at the Mental Health Foundation Australia website for more information about events happening close to you.

To coincide with Mental Health Week, I will be hosting a FREE seminar here at Bayswater Health focusing on emotional health and wellbeing.  I’ve recorded a short video for the Bayswater Health Facebook page that you can find here, which lets you know what to expect by attending the seminar this Thursday, October 12 at 7pm.
